Job Description

The agency Marketing Supervisor is responsible for support in building an overall agency marketing plan, as well as managing the tactical marketing functions of the organization. This person also directs the evolution of agency new business development. This includes managing the new business program to become a core source of competitive advantage for the agency. The agency Marketing Supervisor also participates in agency promotional activities and opportunities.


  • Ensures that the agency brand achieves its potential.
  • Leads the development and maintenance of the agency new business program.
  • Collects, analyzes and interprets data on present and prospective new business clients.
  • Maintains personal contact by mail/phone/email with new business database contacts, providing them with information, agency news, industry news and items of general interest.
  • Manages list building, making new business contacts, preparing materials, gathering “intelligent” research, planning strategies and drafting proposals. Hubspot competency
  • Plans, organizes and prepares a budget for new business promotion efforts. May include overseeing preparation and distribution of new business promotional mail pieces and brochures.
  • Partner with other agency Leaders to identify new business opportunities and develop strategies.
  • Helps develop and executes new business strategies.
  • Analyzes new business program effectiveness and recommends improvements.
  • Assumes a leading role in client service, presentations, and proposals.
  • Serves as a primary source for the media for information and news about the agency and its activities.
  • Assists with public relations in obtaining feature stories about the agency and its personnel in appropriate media; assists in writing features and press releases.
  • Helps the agency be active in the community by identifying appropriate opportunities for community service and organizing participation of agency staff people.
  • Coordinates special, agency-sponsored events and ensures promotional value is derived for the agency; including coordination of annual agency open house.
  • Helps identify effective promotion and advertising vehicles pertinent to the agency’s goals and strategies.
  • Serves as editor-in-chief of the agency promotional newsletter; writes for, and oversees the production and distribution of the newsletter.
  • Offers feedback from an overall agency marketing perspective to ensure agency reputation for quality product and results remains a key element in all agency products.

This person should have experience in developing business goals and written strategic marketing plans, and have innovative presentation skills to create excitement about and interest in agency ideas. This person must also have experience building and implementing creative marketing programs.

The agency Marketing Supervisor should have at minimum a bachelor’s degree in Business or Marketing or similar discipline, or its equivalent, and at least five years of marketing experience (brand management, advertising, interactive, direct marketing and promotion). This person should also have at least three years in management of one or more agency departments, including experience in or knowledge of interactive/new media. Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communications skills are important, as are well-developed project management and organizational skills, and an ability to lead from strategic concept to tactical implementation.
